Featured Artist of the Day - Songwriter - Hayes Carll Hayes hit the ground running back in 2002 with his debut album, Flowers & Liquor and was voted the Best New Act by the Houston Press. Two years later, his next album, Little Rock, climbed to #1 on the Americana Chart on the back of singles such as the title track "Little Rock" and "Down The Road Tonight." And in 2006, Hayes signed with Lost Highway records and released Trouble in Mind in 2008. It opened up Hayes to a national audience and singles "Beaumont," "I Got A Gig," "Bad Liver and A Broken Heart" and "Drunken Poet's Dream" put Carll on the radar of many music fans. "She Left Me For Jesus" was nominated for Americana Music Association Song of the Year in 2008. It was 2011's KMAG YOYO & Other American Stories that vaulted Hayes into the conversation of top tier singer/songwriters of this era. Rolling Stone ranked the record as one of the "50 Country Albums Every Rock Fan Should Own". Hits included "Chances Are," "Stomp and Holler," "Hard Out Here," the John Prine Cover - "Another Like You," and "Grateful for Christmas." In 2016, Carll released Lovers and Leavers on his own Highway 87 Record label which included the popular songs "The Love That We Need" and "The Magic Kid." And last year, he released another successful effort - What It Is - with popular single "None'ya." Hayes' current single is a cover of the Merle Haggard hit - "That's The Way Love Goes" - which he sings with his wife, Allison Moorer. The two were just married last year.
